The Stettler P and H Elevator Preservation Society hosted their first fundraiser of 2022 on April 9.

Running from 2-4 p.m. at the elevator, the fundraiser served a variety of tea, coffee, cold drinks, pies and other desserts.

“We were happy enough with it,” said Stan Eichhorn, one of the society volunteers.

According to Eichhorn around 75 people turned out for the event and it raised just over $900.

The history of the Parrish and Heimbecker Elevator in Stettler goes back to 1918 a grain elevator was sold by Strong and Dowler to them for the price of $2400.

According to the society website, a new elevator was commissioned by Parrish and Heimbecker in 1920 which remained in operation until 2003.

The preservation society was formed in 2005 to ensure maintainence and upkeep of the structure and its outbuildings and runs several fundraisers throughout the year.

According to Eichhorn, the next fundraiser coming up is a pancake breakfast at the end of May.
