Nearly 10 months after the Heart Haven Senior’s Lodge dining room was partially closed due to a vehicle driving into the side of the building, the facility’s reopening was celebrated with a recent ceremony.

In July 2023, an impaired driver leaving the parking lot across the street jumped the curb and hit the dining room of the facility.

The driver was subsequently charged.

During the several months of repairs, the facility was partially closed off causing the need for residents to sit “elbow-to-elbow,” according to a facility staff member.

Repairs and renovations were completed in March and on March 25 a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held where Lou A, the resident president, and Dwayne W, the resident secretary-treasurer, did the honours.
