The Stettler Public Library received a special delivery on April 20.

Joan Statz and Pat Conrad, two members of the Stettler Stitchers quilting club, stopped by the library to donate a pair of reading-inspired quilts to the library.

According to Stettler Public Library Manager Rhonda O’Neil, the plan will be to hang one of the quilts in the library as a display while using the other one as a fundraising item of some sort.

The Stettler Stitchers is comprised of 21 ladies who meet at the Stettler Airport every second Thursday of the month to quilt as a group. Statz says the group regularly looks for local groups to donate to and has even donated to the Ronald McDonald House and Child Advocacy Centre.

Statz says that with the materials and work behind them, the quilts are worth around $1,200 each.

As of publication, the Stettler Public Library was unsure what they would do for a fundraiser with the quilt. Stay tuned!
