The Stettler RCMP, in conjunction with the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT) Red Deer, have concluded a several-months long investigation resulting in the seizure of a large amount of drugs.

Around 300 grams of methamphetamine was seized, along with “a small amount of cocaine” and just over $2,000 cash, according to an RCMP media release.

The total street value for the seized drugs is around $30,000.

As a result of the investigation, Warren Beatty, 57, of Stettler has been charged with drug trafficking, possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking and the possession of proceeds of crime.

In addition, Peggy-Sue Rebelkin, 52, of Stettler has been charged with possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime.

“This amount of drugs had the potential to cause significant harm to a community like Stettler,” said S/Sgt. Bruce Holliday, commander of the Stettler RCMP detachment.

“Working with ALERT, we were able to address the issue in a timely manner and take these drugs off the street.”

The investigation began in October 2021 after members of the local community raised concerns to the RCMP of the potential drug trafficking.

Anyone in the public who suspects drug or gang activity in the community is encouraged to contact the Stettler RCMP detachment at 403-742-3381.

Those wishing to remain anonymous can also contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
