Stettler man swiftly tried and convicted

CHARGED AND CONVICTED

On Feb. 9. Police arrested a 44-year-old Stettler resident, Darren William Parker, in relation to a harassment investigation.

He was charged with 39 counts under Sec 127(1) of Criminal Code (CC), of disobeying an order of the Court and 39 counts, under Sec 145(3) CC, failing to comply with undertaking/recognizance and held to appear in Stettler Provincial Court on Feb. 10, when the judge remanded him in custody. He appeared on Feb. 11 in Coronation Provincial Court where he pleaded guilty to seven charges of Sec 145(3) CC.

The remaining charges were withdrawn by the Crown. Parker was sentenced to six months in jail followed by an 18-month probation.

THEFT

A fuel tank mounted on a trailer was reported stolen on Feb. 11 from a rural location in the southwest area of the County of Stettler.

The trailer and tank were recovered hours later abandoned along Highway 851. Missing is a large amount of diesel fuel from the storage tank.

On Feb. 13, a trailer and off road vehicle were taken from the 4000 block of 60 Street in Stettler. Stolen was a black 2008 ATV trailer displaying license plate Z23198 and a camo-coloured 2009 Yamaha XYR700F Rhino with license EN674.
