Stettler man dies in Elnora collision

A Stettler man is dead following a two-vehicle crash near Elnora on Thursday, Oct. 27.

The deceased, a 22-year-old man whose name was not released by RCMP, was driving a car westbound on Highway 590 when he failed to stop at the intersection of Highway 590 and Highway 21.

He was struck by a one-ton truck heading northbound on Highway 21 shortly before 7 p.m.

Elnora Fire and Rescue, Three Hills EMS, and Three Hills RCMP attended the scene of the collision, where the Stettler man was found to be deceased.

The driver of the truck suffered minor injuries and was treated by EMS.

"Both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision," RCMP Cpl. Curtis Peters said in a press release. "Alcohol and weather are not believed to be factors in the collision."

Brazen thieves caught on cameraThe RCMP are seeking three women who were caught on surveillance shoplifting items valued at about $1,200 on Sunday, Oct. 2 at the Stettler Walmart.

The three women "collected various items and placed them into totes inside a shopping cart," Stettler RCMP detachment commander Sgt. Phil Penny said in a press release.

Two of the women then took the items out at a fire exit, shortly after a grey four-door sedan, driven by the third suspect, pulled up.

The first suspect is described as Caucasian, slender with bleach-blonde hair, wearing a black jacket and sneakers. The second suspect was also Caucasian, though heavier-set, with reddish-brown hair pulled up. She was wearing a pink tie-dyed hoodie.

The final suspect is a Caucasian brunette with long hair.
