The Stettler Learning Centre held an open house and barbecue on Sept. 21.
Featuring staff and board members of the organization, the barbecue was touted as a way for community members to pop in and check out learning opportunities available in their own backyards.
Community members had the opportunity to ask questions of both board members and staff, and check out the many different programs the facility has to offer.
Foundational programs offered through the Stettler Learning Centre include preparation for the General Education Diploma, adult tutoring in English, math, reading and writing, help with digital skills and English as a Second Language.
Other programs offered include Intro to Excel and a Canadian Citizenship Prep course.
Programs offered in partnership with Red Deer Polytechnic include a fully-funded Building Better Business certificate program and a Health Care Aide program being offered in Stettler in January 2023.
The Health Care Aide program being offered in January is also eligible for a $9,000 tuition bursary from the province; contact Stettler Learning Centre for details.
Another health care course offered in Stettler, which just started in September, is the practical nursing program, also offered through Red Deer.
The Stettler Learning Centre is able to offer these programs in the community thanks to the full lab they have on site, complete with patient simulating dummies.
For more information on any of these programs, or any others that Stettler Learning Centre has to offer, check out www.stettlerlearning.com or call 403-742-6700.
