Friends and family of Stettler Gymnastics Club came together to bake for a fundraiser that the club hosted at the Stettler Recreation Centre on Saturday morning, Nov. 5.

Raising $450 from the baked goods, all of which was baked and donated by parents, vice-president Tav Fuller said, "Just like with any non-profit organization, we need funds and volunteers to keep the club going."

Last season the club was lucky to be a part of a ball tournament and hosted a hot dog and raffle to raise funds.

"We really have to thank all the parents that stepped up and supplied the different varieties of goodies, the girls' hockey team, the town and Recreation Centre that allowed us to be there to sell our goods," Fuller said. "But we are really grateful most of all to everyone that supported us, without you we would have done so well and the funds will go towards keeping our doors open."

The Stettler Gymnastics Club officially opened its doors to the community in September last year.

"Our president Karen Sernecky fought so hard to bring gymnastics to our community from finding a building that was spacious enough to fit the equipment needed, to getting board members in place to fill the requirements to start up a non-profit business," explained Fuller. "Hours and hours have been spent cleaning, painting, flooring with amazing support from the Stettler community."

Currently the club runs 10-week sessions on Tuesdays at 4, 5:15 and 6:30 p.m. and on Wednesdays at 2, 4 and 5:15 p.m.

"We also host birthday parties," said Fuller. "I would also like to thank Jen Robbins for taking an idea and making it happen, Becky Scott for stepping up and rewrapping some of the baked goods so that kids at the game could come in and buy a single cookie or bar, Lisa Smith for organizing the volunteers, mom volunteers for showing up Friday night to help with the prizes and wrap the goodies and our volunteers that showed up on Saturday for shift to help up us sell those baked goods. We really appreciate your help and cooperation."

According to Fuller, the community had always wanted a gymnastics club, but now that there is one it is important for everyone to do their best to keep it going.

The club has a Facebook page under its name and also a website with the same name. For more information, members can email at stettlergymnastics@gmail.com.
