Stettler Regional Fire Department responded to a grass fire northeast of Erskine on April 28 with neighbours pitching in to help.

Firefighters also attended two grass fires April 26 and 27.

The Stettler Regional Fire Department reminds residents to be careful when setting fire to brush piles and check any leftover debris of brush piles, which were lit when the snow was still on the ground. These piles can re-ignite and start grass fires because of smoldering embers when conditions are dry and windy. The fire department also advises residents to be cautious with burn barrels and fire pits. They suggest waiting until the grass turns green and position the barrels and pits clear of combustibles, dry grass and brush.
