Volunteers make the world go-round, whether they are working for a hockey tournament or a music festival, cleaning the community or helping out at area schools.

To recognize their invaluabe efforts, the week of April 11-15 is Volunteer Appreciation Week.

"Stettler couldn't do what it does without its volunteers," Town of Stettler Mayor Dick Richards said as he and Stettler County Reeve Wayne Nixon met at the Town of Stettler office on Friday, April 8 to sign a proclamation declaring the week.

The two were joined by Lorraine Hankins, who coordinates volunteers for the county, and Gail Benjamin, the volunteer coordinator at the Stettler Hospital.

A celebration was held at the Stettler Legion on Tuesday, April 12, from noon until 3 p.m., where volunteers could come and enjoy the company of the others who have also donated their time and labour over the years.
