Did you know? Stettler Public Library’s TD Summer Reading Club is set to start on Monday, June 15th!

Have you registered yet? If not head on over to our web site at https://spl.prl.ab.ca/events/summer-reading-club to register or call us at 403-742-2292. Keep up with the latest news via our Summer Reading Program Facebook page @SPLSummerReading.

There are lots of cool prizes to win this year, including weekly prize draws for participating in our online activities and challenges and for reporting your reading!

Coming up this week we have something fun for you to try every day. On Monday we are asking you to get your game on with the first of many traditional street games, Hopscotch.

Take a picture and send it to spl@prl.ab.ca or tag the library in your social media and we’ll enter you into the weekly prize draw.

Tuesday, you can follow along with Megan to build a pony bead creature to hang on your backpack (or elsewhere). You can pick up a craft kit at the library, call us to register and we will put one aside for you.

Quantities are limited - we will have 20 kits available, so if you miss out, we will tell you what you need to purchase to complete the activity. Share your results with us to get another entry into the weekly draw!

Do you like escape rooms?

Try your hand with an online escape room on Wednesday, let us know if you solve it and we will give you another entry into the weekly draw!

Then on Thursday, explore Geocaching with the whole family. Did you know there are millions of geocaches hidden around the world? All you really need is your phone and the geocaching.com app to find geocaches that other people have hidden.

You do not need to sign up for the premium app but can join in the fun with the basic free app. There a number of geocaches located in Stettler as well as all around Stettler County.

It is a great way to have fun with the family! We will be giving out kits for you to make your own geocache, just call us to reserve a kit. Supplies are limited, but we will have all the instructions you need to make your own kit using materials you have at home.

We will wrap up the week with a crafty Bingo. If you complete 1 or more lines we will enter you into the weekly prize draw again! Your participation in our weekly activities (and your reading) will also earn you entries into our end of summer prize draw and we do have some very cool prizes this year. You must be registered in our Summer Reading Program to win!

In other news, the Stettler Public Library is continuing to offer curbside pickup.

Parkland delivery vans are back on the road shipping materials between libraries and you are now able to place holds in the library catalogue again to bring in materials from elsewhere in the region. Let us know if you need assistance requesting materials.

Staff are in the library getting ready for reopening with Stage 2 of Alberta’s Relaunch Strategy. We are told it is coming soon, as long as COVID-19 cases stay low in Alberta.

If you have books to return, we ask that you return them at the Book Drop.

You can find it to the left of the main SRC doors. Books are being quarantined in the book drop room for 72 hours before returning to the library.

Remember that all residents of the Town and County of Stettler are eligible for free library cards (not just now, but all the time)!

Visit our web site at spl.prl.ab.ca and register for your library card online. We will email you with your library card number. If you have any questions or suggestions, please don’t hesitate to contact us at 403-742-2292.
