Single-vehicle collision kills Camrose man south of city

A 26-year-old man is dead following a collision on Saturday, Jan. 14 near Camrose.

A single-vehicle collision happened shortly before 3 a.m. when the driver of a truck lost control and went off the road near Camrose. The deceased, a passenger in the truck, was declared dead at the scene of the accident. Another passenger, a 24-year-old woman, was taken to an Edmonton hospital in serious condition. She remains in the hospital at this time, RCMP said.

The driver of the truck, a 24-year-old man, was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries, and was released, police reported. The three individuals all were from Camrose.

Camrose RCMP and the Red Deer RCMP collision analyst are continuing to look into the collision but at this time it is too early to say if alcohol, drugs, speed or weather were factors in the fatal accident.
