The Stettler District Agricultural Society will be hosting their 8th annual Ranch Rodeo at the outdoor arena on July 10th.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, the event, originally scheduled for February, was forced to postpone due to the health restrictions. However, with most restrictions in the province being history as of July 1st, the event is now able to proceed, with no restrictions in place.

“We were forced to postpone the event and are very fortunate to be able to hold it this July 10th,” said Alana Weaver, of the Stettler District Ag. Society, via e-mail.

The Ranch Rodeo has been running in Stettler since 2014 and is a “traditional type” rodeo where teams of competitors participate in events very similar to the daily chores they deal with every day on the ranch.

“They compete as a team representing the ranch they work for, for fun, prizes and bragging rights,” said Weaver.

Teams are made up of four people, with the minimum of one female on the team.

In total a maximum of 12 teams will compete for the prizes. Entry fees for the event are $400 per team, and registration closed June 28th.

The rodeo will start at 11 a.m. on July 10th, and spectators are welcome to come check out the event, with no gate fee. For further information, contact the Stettler and District Ag. Society at (403) 742-6288.
