The Stettler RCMP detachment is on the hunt for a suspect after a reported break and enter to a home on Highway 56 in the county.

Caught on video by the homeowner around 9:50 a.m. on Feb. 6, the suspect was observed breaking into the home, stealing items from the shed and fleeing.

This offence occurred nearly two hours after a home robbery near Three Hills in Kneehill County, and the RCMP believes the two incidents are linked.

In the Kneehill incident, the suspect was confronted by the at-home homeowner. The suspect proceeded to hold a knife on the homeowner, before fleeing.

The homeowner received a minor cut as a result of the incident.

RCMP media relations describe the suspect as being a middle-aged male, possibly in his 40s, with a fair or medium complexion, grey hair and wearing a blue puffer-type jacket.

The vehicle is described as an older-model, red single-cab pick up truck.

Anyone with information relating to either of these crimes are asked to contact the Stettler RCMP at 403-742-3381 or the Three Hills RCMP at 403-443-5538.

Those wishing to remain anonymous can report a crime by calling Alberta Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), online at www.p3tips.com, or by using the P3 Tips app available on the Apple and Android stores.

If someone witnesses a crime immediately in progress, call 911.

“(We) encourage the public to report any criminal suspicious activity,” said RCMP Media Relations officer Troy Savinkoff.

“Reports tell us where to look, who to look for, and where to patrol in the future.”
