RCMP kept busy by impaired drivers

On Dec. 2 at 5:10 p.m., a concerned motorist reported a dangerous driver to police who was driving into oncoming traffic near Erskine on Highway 12. The witness saw the driver sideswipe a semi trailer. Police attended and arrested a 46-year-old male from Gadsby. He will appear in Stettler Provincial Court on Jan. 14 to face a charge of impaired driving and one of dangerous driving.

On Dec. 6 at 2 a.m., a 42-year-old male from Calgary was arrested in Stettler for impaired driving. He will appear in Stettler Provincial Court on Jan. 14 to enter a plea.

On Dec. 10 at 8 p.m., a concerned motorist reported a vehicle on Highway 12 near Erskine driving erratically. Police located the vehicle and arrested a 25-year-old male from Red Deer, who will face impaired driving charges in Stettler in January.

VANDALISM

On Dec. 5, a vehicle was abandoned after it became stuck in a snowbank. The owner returned to the vehicle some time later to find that some windows had been broken out of it.

THEFT

Property was reported stolen from a barn along 52 Street in Botha on Dec. 7. Stolen items included a 10” ice auger, a 300cc chainsaw and other property.

A home in the 4700 block of 47 Street in Stettler was broken into on Dec. 8. Property was stolen including liquor.

A credit card was stolen and used at businesses in Stettler on Dec. 9. Police arrested a 17-year-old female who will appear in Stettler Provincial Youth Court to enter a plea to theft on Jan. 12.

A license plate was stolen off a vehicle parked in the 5700 block of 50A Avenue in Stettler on Dec. 10. Missing is Alberta license MPY-076.

At 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 10, an astute citizen confronted two male thieves in his neighbour’s yard, situated along Alberta Avenue in Erskine. The vehicle ignition had already been broken but the thieves fled west in what was described as a dark blue or green 4x4 truck.

Police recovered a stolen green Mazda 626 parked in the 4600 block of 56 Street in Stettler on Dec. 12. The car had earlier been stolen in Calgary and appeared undamaged.

On Dec. 14, an attempt was made to steal a utility trailer parked in the 4800 block of 46 Street in Stettler.
