RCMP appreciate local drivers

Police applaud the community for driving safely and using designated drivers. Some drivers had their driving privileges suspended for 24 hours but no impaired drivers were arrested this past week.

Police applaud the community for driving safely and using designated drivers. Some drivers had their driving privileges suspended for 24 hours but no impaired drivers were arrested this past week. Police appreciated the calls from concerned citizens who witnessed and reported several incidents of dangerous driving.

ASSAULT

Police responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in the 4000 block of 57 St in Stettler on Dec 18. A 49-year-old Brooks, AB resident was arrested at the scene and later released to appear at Stettler Provincial Court on Jan. 14 to enter a plea to a charge of assault causing bodily harm.

Another domestic disturbance occurred in the 5700 block of 50th Ave in Stettler on Dec. 19.

38-year-old Craig Munroe Burton of Calgary was arrested and charged with assault, obstructing police, uttering threats, and three counts of failing to comply with an undertaking. After a bail hearing, he was remanded in custody until his next appearance in Red Deer Provincial Court on Dec. 21 for another bail hearing.

VANDALISM

Dec. 17, overnight, a vehicle parked at a Stettler place of lodging was damaged after a window was broken.

THEFT

A break-in was reported to police on Dec. 15 from a cabin along Bay View Street at Rochon Sands. Property was stolen including two wake boards, a leather couch and money.

A trailer was reported stolen from a different property along Bay View Street at Rochon Sands on Dec. 16. Stolen was a black Arctic Cat trailer.

At least twelve Christmas trees were reported stolen from the Scouts of Canada compound at a Stettler grocery lot on Dec. 17. This loss has a severe impact on the profits the charity was hoping to realize.

Dec. 17, overnight, two vehicles were entered while parked along the 5400 block of 60 Street in Stettler. Property was stolen including a digital camera.

A home was broken into in the 4400 block of 47 Avenue in Stettler on Dec. 19, and property was stolen.
