Quad rolls over, kills one

A six-year-old child died in a single-vehicle collision on Tuesday, July 28.

The RCMP Stettler detachment issued the following statement regarding the incident:

On July 28, at about 3:30 p.m., an off-road vehicle rolled along a ditch in the County of Stettler, about 15 miles southeast of Stettler. The vehicle, a Polaris Ranger RZR, carried two occupants, who lived in the area and were using seatbelts and full face helmets.

The driver, under the age of 16, was not injured while the six-year-old passenger died at the scene. Responding emergency personnel included Stettler EMS, Stettler Regional Fire Department, Stettler RCMP and a member of the Big Valley Fire Department. STARS air ambulance attended and provided medical treatment.
