With another potential Canada Post service disruption on the horizon, The Stettler Independent, a part of Black Press Media, has put plans in place to ensure readers continue to receive timely access to news.

Canada Post announced that the Canadian Union of Postal Workers has served strike notice, to begin on Friday, May 23.

What has yet to be determined is whether the strike will result in a full shutdown or partial shutdown of Canada's national mail service. That will depend on whether the union chooses to do rotating strikes or a full service disruption.

Should there be a full service disruption, those who receive the print edition of The Stettler Independent via courier in Stettler will be unaffected with delivery. Mail subscribers will be able to pick up copies of the paper at The Stettler Independent office, located at  4937 50 St., upstairs in the Gilbert Financial building.

The subscriber papers will be on a rack inside the front door of the building.

In the Castor region, subscribers will be able to pick up their print edition at The Purple Playtpus book store on Main Street.

Residents who received their papers at the Halkirk post office will be able to pick their papers up at the Halkirk Snack Shack.

In Bashaw, subscribers can pick their papers up at the town office.

As always, local, regional and provincial news articles can be read online on our website, stettlerindependent.ca, the access to which is included with your subscription. Also, full issues of the paper can be viewed on our website under E-Editions.

Black Press will continue to adapt to the changing situation and continue to provide the high level of service and quality local news advertisers and readers rely on.
