Pancake breakfast kicks off Stettler Festival of lights

Pancake breakfast first of many events in support of Stettler hospital and Stettler Health Services Foundation

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Stettler's Festival of Lights got underway on Nov. 26 with a pancake breakfast hosted by Atco at the Stettler Community Hall.

Breakfast was served between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. and consisted of pancakes, eggs, hashbrowns and sausages. Volunteers were making the rounds to ensure that those in attendance never ran low on coffee!

After breakfast, people were able to place the opening bids on the nearly 200 items donated to the 2025 edition of the fundraiser's week-long silent auction.

Around 100 people attended the breakfast.

The silent auction and artisan market at the community hall will be open from noon to 5 p.m. on Nov. 26, 27, and 28 and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Nov. 29.

On Nov. 27, a Senior's tea takes place from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., with admission $ 5 at the door. That evening, an Art & Cheer event takes place where attendees can make a winter-themed welcome sign. The cost is $50, with tickets needed in advance, available at Grate Kitchen.

On Nov. 28, it is the return of Canalta's A&W Burgers & Beer Family Night, running from 5 to 7 p.m. Admission at the door is $15 for adults and $10 for children.

On Nov. 29, it's time to submit your last-minute bids for the silent auction, which will run from 11:30 to 1 p.m. after the Holly Jolly lunch. Admission at the door is $15 for adults and $10 for kids.

Finally, the week-long fundraiser in support of the Stettler Hospital and Care Centre wraps up with a Hawaiian-themed Dinner, dance and live auction. Tickets are $65 in advance, available at Grate Kitchen, on Main Street Stettler. While the dinner is Hawaiian-themed, organizers are asking for no coconut bras, grass skirts, or similar apparel.

All activities take place at the Stettler Community Hall.

The Festival of lights is organized by a subcommittee under the Stettler Health Services Foundation.
