Motorist fined $1,000 for careless driving

A motorist was handed a hefty fine for careless driving in February after the charge was lowered from impaired driving, to which the offender pleaded guilty at the Stettler Provincial Court on May 12.

Bruce Joel McLellan was fined $1,000 for careless driving in connection with an incident in which he drove into a ditch on Highway 56 on Feb. 8 around 10:30 p.m.

“I am satisfied with the joint submission by the Crown and the lawyer,” said Judge Jim Mitchell.

Gregory J. Patterson was fined $89 after pleading guilty to driving up to 15 kilometers per hour over the posted maximum speed limit of 100 km per hour.

Cynthia Courtney Block was issued a common law peace bond for six month whilc charges were dropped for assault with a weapon. “It’s a reasonable compromise,” said Judge Mitchell.
