ASSAULT
An assault occurred outside a business in the 6100 block of 50 Avenue in Stettler on Feb. 21 at 8:30 p.m. The victim was struck in the face with an object and suffered moderate injury. The matter is still under investigation.
On Feb. 28, at approximately 6 p.m., police responded to a complaint of assault at an apartment in the 4900 block of 49 Street in Stettler. A 46-year-old male Stettler resident was arrested and later released. He will appear in Stettler Provincial Court on March 25 to enter pleas to charges of assault and uttering threats.
THEFT
On Feb. 16, a break-in was reported at a construction site near Erskine in the southwest portion of the County of Stettler. Various power tools were stolen.
On the same day, a break in was reported at an oil/gas site in the northeast portion of the County of Stettler. A door was forced open to a building and a large amount of tools and other supplies were stolen.
On. Feb. 18, a residence was broken into in the 4400 block of 51 Avenue in Stettler. The home owner surprised the intruder who was scared off.
The theft of a Warn Tabor winch was reported on Feb. 23. It had been removed from a vehicle parked in a commercial compound in the 5100 block of 50 Avenue in Stettler.
On Feb. 26, overnight, a 2008 Dodge Truck was stolen from a residence in the 5200 block of 44 Avenue in Stettler. At about 9 a.m. the truck was located stuck in a ditch outside of town. A 14-year-old Stettler youth was arrested and remanded in custody. He will face a charge of taking an auto without the owner’s consent in Stettler Youth Court March 9.
DRUGS
On Feb. 26, police executed a search warrant on a rural residence situated along Range Road 19-5, in the County of Stettler, north of Stettler. Among items seized were over 60 marijuana plants in various stages of growth and a rifle. A 35-year-old male resident was arrested at the scene and later released. He will appear in Stettler Provincial Court on March 11 to enter pleas to charges of production of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, and unsafe storage of a firearm.
Police assisting Stettler detachment with this investigation included Forensic Identification of Red Deer, Drug Section of Red Deer, and the Southern Alberta Marihuana Investigative Team of Calgary.
