It was a moment of great reunion when Kenny Gabriel met his Grade 1 teacher Dorothy Fix after 54 years on Monday, April 4.

What made the occasion special was it also happened to be Gabriel's 60th birthday.

A familiar and amicable face along the streets of Stettler, Gabriel is known to most residents of the town as the guy on the bike.

Recalling some of the memories when Gabriel was in Dorothy Fix's Grade 1 class, Fix said, "He was a lovely boy, always happy and smiling and no trouble at all."

Gabriel has always been inclined towards music and writing songs, so when an opportunity to get one of his songs produced came up, he wrote a song on his favourite teacher, entitled 'My Favourite Teacher', which was released as part of a 12-songs music CD late last year in Dec. 2015.

"I have remembered her all through the years, and this song is to honour her," said Gabriel.

The CD has been produced by Sun Music Group and is called Nashville Songs for the Holidays.

There was much laughter in the room as Dorothy Fix's colleague from yesteryears Helen Ambury, niece Carrie Kuefler and daughter-in-law Grace Fix also joined in the celebration.
