John Deere dominates 2024 Stettler Antique Tractor Pull

Event was held mid-March

The Stettler Antique Tractor Club was in action on July 13, hosting its annual tractor pull.

In a tractor pull competitors hook onto a sled with a weight on it. As the sled is towed, the weight moves forward, changing the centre of gravity and making it harder to pull.

The winner is determined by whichever tractor can pull the sled the furthest.

Held at the Stettler and District Agriplex, the tractor pull is held on a 200-foot track on the west side of the building.

Competitors compete in one of several classes, depending on the weight of their tractors.

The Bantam Class starts with tractors weighing less than 4,000 pounds, and from there, the classes go all the way up to Class 6, which is 10,000 pounds or heavier.

Class 7A and Class 7B are dedicated to newer tractors above and below 10,500 pounds respectively.

For the 2024 event, all competitors were given two passes on the track, with their aggregate score determining their rankings.

In the Bantam Class, Magnus Hansen took the top spot with a combined pull worth 454.5 feet with his Co-op E3 Tractor.

Moving to Class 1, tractors from 4,000 to 5,000 pounds, Robert Mckal took the top spot with a combined run of 382.59 on his Oliver Super 88.

In Class 2, tractors from 5,000 to 6,000 pounds, the winner was Dave Sandin on his John Deere Model 60 with a pull of 514.42.

Class 3, tractors from 6,000 to 7,000 pounds, had the first "full pulls" of the day, where the tractors pulled the entire length of the track. This class was won by Kale Kalika on his John Deere Model D with an aggregate pull of 600 feet.

Moving to Class 4, tractors from 7,000 to 8,500 pounds, Duane Albers won the class with a pull of 461.17 feet on his John Deere Model R.

In Class 5, 8,500 to 10,000 pounds, Albers was again in the victory box with a pull of 405.75 on his John Deere Model 830.

Finally, in Class 6, which is tractors 10,000 pounds and over, Ken Norman won the event with a pull of 418.67 feet after two on his John Deer Model 830.

In addition to the tractor pull, a toy and collectible show was held inside the Agriplex.
