Incumbent MLA Nate Horner will be returning to the legislature.

Following a month-long election campaign, UCP candidate Horner solidly won the riding of Drumheller-Stettler in the May 29 provincial election.

Horner won the riding with over 15,000 votes across the 43 polling stations. He beat out four other competitors for the legislative seat including the NDP’s Juliet Franklin.

Prior to the legislature being dissolved, Horner served as the province’s Minister of Agriculture.

Unofficially, the United Conservative Party has retaken the legislature with a diminished majority of 49 seats to the NDP’s 38. The number needed for a majority is 44.
