Grass fire season has started

Tuesday, May 10 Stettler Regional Fire Rescue responded to a grass fire along with Donalda Fire Rescue at approximately 9:30 p.m. The fire was quickly brought under control and no structures were damaged. The cause of the fire is still under investigation and no injuries were reported.

Wednesday, May 11 at approximately 3:45 p.m. Stettler Regional Fire Rescue responded to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of 57 street and 50A avenue. Traffic was slowed to one lane for about an hour while the scene was cleared, there are no injuries and the cause of the collision is still under investigation.

Thursday, May 12 Stettler Regional Fire Rescue responded to a grass fire at 4805 42 street in the town of Stettler. The fire was quickly brought under control and extinguished. No injuries were reported and the cause is still under investigation.

On the evening of Saturday, May 14 Stettler Regional Fire Rescue responded to a two vehicle collision at the intersection of 40 Avenue and 59 Street. Traffic was diverted for a short time while crews worked to clear the scene. There are no injuries to report and the cause of the incident is still under investigation.

Sunday, May 15 Stettler Regional Fire Rescue along with Big Valley Fire responded to a silage fire southeast of Big Valley. The fire was quickly brought under control and extinguished, with the cause unknown at this time.

Monday, May 16, Stettler Regional Fire Rescue responded to a grass fire east of Donalda around approximately 12:20 a.m. Stettler was assisted by crews from Donalda Fire, Big Valley Fire, Bashaw Fire, Forestburg Fire, as well as County of Stettler water tank trucks. Crews battled the blaze for 11 hours before it was extinguished, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
