The ice is in the Castor Beaverdome and the hockey season is getting underway.
To start off the season, Castor Minor Sports and 3Cs Hockey brought back a girl's hockey weekend in Castor and Coronation over Sept. 28-29.
Designed as a way to get girls of all ages comfortable on and off the ice, the weekend consisted of hockey development, dryland training and scrimmages throughout the weekend.
Helping out with the weekend were the Lakeland Rustlers college hockey team.
On the evening of Sept. 28, the Rustlers played an intrasquad match with members of the U18 3Cs helping fill out the teams.
While all players wore the same uniforms, either Rustlers home or away jerseys, the 3Cs girls playing were easily differentiated by the green helmets they wore while the Lakeland players wore black.
In the intrasquad fun match, the away squad ended up defeating the home squad 6-3.
The weekend concluded in Coronation on Sept. 29 when the Lakeland Rustlers took on the SAIT Trojans in a four-on-four game.
Girls hockey age levels participating in the weekend included U7, U9, U15 and U18.
