Town of Stettler residents invited to celebrate Canada’s 156th birthday

A full day of activities is scheduled for Stettler on Canada Day!

The Town of Stettler, along with a variety of community partners, has planned events taking place over the course of the day and carried on into the evening hours to celebrate Canada’s 156th birthday.

Stettler’s Town and Country Museum will get things started in the morning beginning with an $8 pancake breakfast running from 9-11 a.m.

After finishing breakfast, folks are invited to stick around the museum from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. to explore the various exhibits, take part in a scavenger hunt sponsored by ATB, and check out a variety of agricultural demonstrations and other activities which will be running throughout the day.

Stettler Family and Community Support Services will be sponsoring a bouncy castle, battle axes, an inflatable obstacle course, face painting, a variety of outdoor games and more also taking place on the museum grounds. While planning is underway for all the activities to be outside, the Stettler Recreation Centre will be used as an alternate location in case of bad weather.

Parking for the museum activities will be available at the Stettler Sports Park parking lot, with tractor-wagon rides shuttling people back and forth.

The evening celebrations will get underway at West Stettler Park at 7 p.m.

Free cupcakes will be made available starting at 7 p.m. and the Boss Hill Band will take to the Gazebo stage beginning at 8 p.m.

As long as fire restrictions allow, a fireworks display launched from West Stettler Park will finish off the evening.

“We are very excited about the activities and events that have been put together to celebrate Canada’s 156th Birthday,” said Brad Robbins, the Town of Stettler manager of recreation and culture.

“Once again, multiple partners have come together to create a fun and exciting day of celebration for both residents and visitors to enjoy. Events like this would not be possible without great event partners and we thank everyone that has helped either as a sponsor or event lead.”
