Erskine 4-H Beef Club ready for 2018

Erskine 4-H Beef Club Show and sale will be on June 4, 5

By Rayell Haustein Club reporter

Hello everyone! The 4-H year has started up again. This year there has been a few new changes; for instance the show and sale has now been moved to June 4 and 5 instead of the long weekend in May. The Erskine 4-H Beef Club had their first meeting, and awards night in October.

At the meeting we voted on executive positions. Glen Morbeck is going to be our leader, Lowell VanStraten- president, Gracie Morbeck -treasurer, Kayla Robertson-secretary, Rayell Haustein and Sydney Leopard – club Reporters, and Aryann Haustein and Hannah VanStraten – historians. Our club has 11 members this year and two cleavers.

Weigh-In was on the 5th of November, and we have 10 show steers, one carcass steer, and four yearling heifers. We potentially could have a cow calf pair as well. Our club had our Christmas party on Dec. 10th, at the bowling alley in Stettler.

At the meeting we decided that we would be selling ice melt again this year. Each pail is $20, and it’s pet friendly and sidewalk safe. We will be starting in January.

We wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
