Crazy Daze returns with midway

Crazy Daze returns to downtown Stettler as the midway will be back on Main Street on June 18 and 19.

“The midway is coming back to Main Street,” said Andrea Hatch, president of Stettler Downtown Business Association, which hosts the annual event.

Last year, the midway was located at the Stettler Exhibition Grounds after many businesses opposed the midway downtown as they claimed it detracted from their businesses.

“Many business operators said they actually benefitted from the midway downtown,” said Hatch.

“Hopefully, we can attract more people downtown during the event.”

“We want to encourage more sidewalk sales,” said Hatch.

Businesses will open their doors during the two-day event to offer a variety of specials, bargains, promotions and fun in addition to many activities along the sidewalks.

Traditionally, Crazy Daze kicks off with a pancake breakfast followed by various sales and fun activities.

Stettler Idol talent showcase will not be part of the festivities, but will be featured during the annual Art Walk downtown on June 5, an event that complements the art event rather than a business promotion, said Hatch.

Organizers are optimistic that the downtown event will complement the second annual Relay for Life for the Canadian Cancer Society on Friday night at William E. Hay Composite High School.
