County roads to be upgraded for safer drive

Several roads in the Botha and Endiang areas are set to get improvements to make them safer and easier for motorists to travel.

At its regular meeting Aug. 12, County of Stettler council approved requests from local councilors to upgrade the portions and roads which will be upgraded as part of the county’s roads program.

North of Botha Cemetery, the junction of Range Road 18-1 and Township Road 38-8 will become a T intersection as requested by Gadsby-area Councillor Vic Carey, responding to a recent motor-vehicle collision at this location.

“I would like to see a T intersection, “ said Carey.

“It might save somebody from getting killed.”

Over in Endiang, council approved requests by area Councillor Les Stulberg to widen the intersection of Range Road 17-5 and several points along Wolf Hill Road beside slough areas.

“Farmers are having trouble moving wide farm equipment along this road,” said Councillor Stulberg.

To comply with standards along waterways, the county will consult with Alberta Environment and Ducks Unlimited before starting work this fall.
