County council votes in favour of awarding $53K in special project funding

The Donalda Agricultural Society and Stettler and District Agricultural Society received $12,000 for arena lobby repairs and $10,000 for arena floor and paneling respectively, from the Recreation Special Project Funding (RSPF), when the county council voted in favour of awarding the amount of $53,562.80 at the regular council meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 14.

According to the county, the RSPF was established in 2006 in order to set aside funds to help with the construction and/or enhancement of recreational facilities and assist with programs in order to serve the needs of the county's rural population.

Applicants successful in receiving funding have to submit receipts proving the work had been completed on the proposed project before the RSPF funds are released for payment.

Among the other community organizations that also received funding were Red Willow Agricultural Society ($8,185) for siding replacement, Linda Hall ($6,000) for siding replacement, Gadsby Community Hall ($5,525) for water and sewer upgrades, Sullivan Lake West Agricultural Society ($3,840) for arena door replacement, Botha Community Centre ($3,800) for veranda covered area and Byemoor Curling Club ($3,712) for ice machine purchase.
