Terry Schiffner

COUNTY COUNCIL – Terry Schiffner – Big Valley (Ward 2)

Why do you want to start to serve on County council?

I wish to serve the ratepayers to make a difference in my community. By listening to the people’s needs and concerns and taking the appropriate action, I feel I would be an asset to council and ratepayers alike. I feel I can make a positive impact and am running for the right reasons.

What do you feel you would bring to council specifically?

I bring knowledge and experience by previously having served on County council. Through my experience I’m confident I can serve the community in many different areas in a respectful manner with the ability to represent all people. I feel I would be a team player with the ability to work well with council and staff to accomplish much by my level thinking, common sense approach.

If someone were to ask you “why should I vote for you?” What would you say?

I’ve lived in the County of Stettler my entire life so I have a vested interest in the community as a whole and only want what’s best for all the residents of the County. I’m approachable and a good listener and have the energy and dedication to commit to the council term.

What is your vision for the community?

I have my community’s best interests in mind at all times. I aim to make a positive impact through my knowledge and experience to see the County prosper and be the best place to live, work and enjoy.

Could you please tell us about your professional / work experience.

I’ve farmed in the County of Stettler my entire life. I served on county Council from 2010-2013. I’ve sat on the board of directors for both the Feeders Association and the Cow Calf Co-Op, for the past 20 years. As well, I was a 4-H leader for eight years. I have a good understanding of the community’s needs, have good management skills and the ability to work well with other people.
