The Clearview Public Schools board of trustees, union officials, and food bank delegates at the Nov. 28 board meeting.

During the Nov. 28 Clearview Public Schools board of trustees meeting, Betty birch and Cameron Jackson from the Stettler and District Food Bank stopped in.

The pair were on hand to collect donations from the board, as well as the school unions.

CUPE 292 president Danny Sumayo presented the donations on behalf of the CUPE, and ATA Local 33 president Corey vanZanbergen presented on behalf of that union.

In addition to the donation to the Stettler and District Food Bank, the groups also donated to the Stettler Christmas Hamper Society, with Kim Smyth accepting on behalf of that organization.

To help promote literacy over the holiday season, the Clearview Public Schools board of trustees has also donated books to the Christmas Hamper program in Castor, Coronation and Stettler, "ensuring that every child can experience the joy of reading this holiday season."

Education results

During the meeting, trustees discussed the Annual Education Results Report for the 2023-24 school year.

Highlights from the report show that the division has been strengthening literacy and numeracy, with "positive trends" in student testing across all grades.

In the Provincial Achievement Test and Diploma exams, Clearview students are showing stable results with "most courses trending upwards." For the Diploma exams, more students are meeting the "Acceptable Standard."
