Clearview Public Schools bus involved in early-morning collision

A Clearview Public Schools bus was involved in an early morning collision on Jan. 17.

A Clearview Public Schools bus was involved in a motor vehicle collision in the early hours of Jan. 17.

The collision occurred on Main Street in Stettler around 7 a.m., blocking the street in all directions for a time. 

In a release, Clearview Public Schools confirmed that no students were on board at the time of the incident and described the incident as "minor."

"Thankfully, there were no students on the bus at the time, and the bus driver was not injured," states the release. 

The incident occurred the morning after a winter storm swept through the region reducing visibility, resulting in warnings to stay off the roads and collisions all over the province. 

According to a release by the Alberta RCMP, 149 collisions occurred between noon on Jan. 16 and 8 a.m. on Jan. 17, with 71 occurring in the Central Alberta District. Of those collisions, three resulted in injury, and the remainder involved property damage.

"RCMP is stressing that when it is advised to not travel, please take this advice," notes the RCMP release announcing the collision numbers.
