Clearview Public Schools has announced the appointment of a new superintendent for the upcoming school year.

Scot Leys will be joining Clearview Public Schools as superintendent when Brenda MacDonald retires from the role at the end of July.

“We are very pleased to have Scot Leys joining Clearview Public Schools,” said Clearview board chair Guy Nietz, via a media release.

“All of the trustees are confident Scot will ensure Clearview maintains its welcoming, inclusive, and caring approach to education.”

Leys will be joining Clearview from Fort Vermilion School Division in Northern Alberta.

An educator for 27 years, Leys has served as a teacher, assistant-principal, principal, and most recently as associate superintendent. Throughout his career, Leys has spent his time in small, rural, school settings.

“I am excited and honoured to be joining Clearview Public Schools,” said Leys, in the release.

“I look forward to working collaboratively with the great staff of Clearview to continue to meet the needs of students, parents and communities. I believe that my educational experience in small rural communities will be invaluable in leading Clearview to meet the upcoming challenges in education.”

Leys has a Bachelor of Education from the University of Saskatchewan and a Masters in Educational Leadership from Memorial University in Newfoundland.

“I am looking forward to building strong and effective relationships, and see that as a key focus of my work,” said Leys.

“I am humbled to have been chosen to lead Clearview Public Schools and am looking forward to working with staff to ensure that we all belong and we all succeed.”
