Byemoor School will be under the guidance of a new principal when the 2023-24 school year kicks off in September.
Clearview Public Schools, via a June 5 media release, announced that Krista Jewett, a current Grade 4-9 teacher at the school, would take over the role in the new school year.
“We are very pleased that Krista Jewett will be taking on the role of Principal at Byemoor School,” said Scot Leys, Clearview superintendent, in the release.
“Jewett is very familiar with the Byemoor School and has strong ties to the Byemoor community and surrounding areas. We welcome Krista to our administrative team and look forward to working with her to support the ongoing success of Byemoor students, staff members and the community at large!”
During the 2022-23 school year, Jewett has been teaching Grade 4-9 English, Language Arts, Social Studies, Music, Drama, Art, Career Technology, and other subjects “as needed” at Byemoor School.
Jewett has lived in Alberta since 2002, after moving to the region from Woodstock, New Brunswick, and currently lives in the Byemoor area on an acreage with her family.
The educator has a long history with Clearview; prior to receiving her education degree, Jewett worked with both Clearview Public Schools and Wolf Creek School Division in several different roles, including play school teacher, educational assistant, and librarian.
Jewett has worked in education for over 17 years total, though she did not begin her first formal role as a teacher until during the COVID-19 pandemic; her first teaching role was as an online Grade 4-6 teacher for Clearview Public Schools.
“I love my career as it allows me the opportunity to work with the incredible students of our small but mighty community,” explained Jewett.
“Byemoor students are some of the most amazing young people I have had the pleasure to work with in my over 17 years as an educator. It has been a privilege to watch them grow, both academically and personally and I look forward to what the future holds for our students and our school!”
Jewett says she is excited to step into the principal position and continue the work and nurture the connections she has already started during her last two years at Byemoor School.
“These connections have helped make Byemoor my home,” said Jewett.
“I have a true passion for the school and the success of our students and feel honoured to be stepping into this leadership role. Together, we will build a strong educational team, build more connections within the community and grow Byemoor School into a thriving learning environment.”
