Following reports of the PowerSchool data breach in January, Clearview Public Schools has subsequently announced that the division had been affected.

Initially, representatives from Clearview Public Schools denied that the school division had been affected by the breach which has affected school divisions using the software across North America, however in an update on Jan. 24 Clearview announced that its early assessment had proven incorrect and its information had been compromised.

"As part of our ongoing response to the PowerSchool data breach reported on January 7, 2025, we are providing updates regarding the steps being taken to address this issue and safeguard our community," states the release announcing the compromise.

Clearview Public Schools was first notified by PowerSchool on Jan. 7 that a potential security was possible, but based on information on hand, on Jan. 9 Clearview announced that it was unaffected.

The division received an update on Jan. 23 from PowerSchool confirming that a breach did in fact occur.

"We deeply regret this delay and have taken immediate steps to improve communication protocols to ensure timely escalation of critical notifications in the future," concludes the release.
