The Clearview board of trustees again looked over the school division’s fall 2022 budget during their most recent meeting on Nov. 16.
According to the meeting highlights released by Clearview Public Schools on Nov. 17, the board also reviewed year-end reserves, some of which the division anticipates spending on technology and the implementation of strategic initiatives.
Noted in the budget is the expenditure of COVID-19 related expenses, which the province asked all school divisions in the province to track.
In the 2020-2021 school year, Clearview spent around $1 million on COVID related to extra daytime custodial staff and cleaning supplies. In 2021-2022, those costs had dropped to $682,000.
The board of trustees will take a final look and approve the fall 2022 budget at the upcoming meeting on Nov. 25.
Christmas plans
The Clearview board of trustees have discussed their Christmas plans and have decided to donate their per diems for the upcoming Nov. 25 meeting to the local food banks.
In total, around $1,400 will be donated to the food banks located in the Clearview Public Schools catchment area.
Trustees have also decided to donate children’s books to the Stettler Hamper Society and provide snack trays to all the schools as a way of showing appreciation for staff.
School Buses
As part of its strategy to keep transportation services in the division current, Clearview Public Schools has been purchasing four or five buses a year for division use.
In the spring of 2022, the board authorized the purchase of several buses, which have yet to arrive due to supply chain issues.
For the fall 2022 bus review, the board approved divisional administration to seek out quotes for the purchase of five buses.
