Clearview committed to improve results on provincial exams

While students in Clearview School Division scored higher than the provincial average in many provincial exams for the 2009-2010 school year, trustees and administration are committed to take steps where improvements are needed on other exams.

“Teachers and principals review the information we receive back from the province in detail,” said Superintendent John Bailey, who recently presented the annual education results to the board of trustees.

“Where areas are identified that need attention, then each school develops strategies to address those areas for growth, ” Bailey said.

“Where areas of strength are identified, then positive lessons learned are shared with other staff and those strategies are continued.”

Each fall, principals meet with the superintendent to discuss their school’s results.

Clearview students scored below the provincial average in pure and applied math 30, biology 30, chemistry 30 and physics 30.

Several areas of growth, including those where performance was below provincial average, have been identified as focus of further efforts towards exceeding provincial averages for the provincial achievement tests for grades 6 and 9 at the standard of excellence and diploma exams.

The report of the exam results can be found on the Clearview website at www.clearview.ab.ca/documents or by contacting the Clearview office.
