The Clearview Public Schools recognized its staff and teachers at a dinner event on Wednesday, June 8 at the Stettler Community Hall.

An annual affair for the school board, the hall was a congregation of Clearview staff and teachers as they shared stories and anecdotes throughout the evening.

The event started with cocktails, followed by a banquet dinner before presentations were made for awards and other milestones.

The 2016 Clearview Award of Merit was given to Dr. Tyler Meyer, who is a medical physicist and has been doing work in the application of high energy radiation in the treatment of cancer.

Meyer holds a clinical position at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre in Calgary, which delivers approximately 3,000 courses of radiotherapy treatment each year.

Tyler grew up on a farm 20 minutes north of Castor and attended Gus Wetter School, graduating in 1998.

As the evening rolled on, staff and teachers were recognized for five-, 10-, 15-, 20-, 25-, 30-, 35- and 50-years of service with the Clearview division.

Trustee Karen Holloway presented Wendy M. Dunkle with her award, the only staff to have reached the 50-year milestone of service.

Among the retirees were Doug Gregory, Eileen Johnstone, Sandra Perreault, Nancy Tamblyn and Garry Thomson.
