One lucky heifer has been playing a big role in raising money for sick children,

On April 26, the Stettler branch of ATB Financial auctioned a finished beef heifer at the Stettler Auction Mart.

The heifer, which was donated by Skocdopole Ranches, helped raised a total $7,698 for the Stollery Children’s Hospital foundation and the Alberta Children’s Hospital foundation after being purchased, re-donated and purchased again to be re-donated.

“It went very well,” said Aleta Nichols, ATB employee.

“There were several buyers. It got back in and was auctioned several times,” said Nichols.

The heifer’s fate is still uncertain.

“One of the buyers at the Stettler Auction Mart usually buys it at the end,” said Nichols.

“We do those auctions once a year. It’s an ATB-wide action.”

The ATB branch also held a bake sale at the auction mart, raising $419.
