A 77-year-old Castor man is dead after his vehicle collided with semi.

According to Coronation RCMP, about 10 a.m. they were called to a report of a two-vehicle collision on Hwy 12 in the County of Paintearth.

Cpl. Ronald Bumbry, EAD – Media Relations Officer, said a preliminary investigation shows that a truck heading southbound on Range Road 131 proceeded from a controlled intersection at Hwy 12 and collided with an eastbound semi-tractor.

The Castor man was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the semi wasn’t injured.

Coronation RCMP and a RCMP Collision Analyst attended the scene and continue to investigate. No further updates are anticipated.

“Our thoughts are with the family of the deceased at this time and his name will not be released,” said Cpl. Bumbry.
