Castor Fire Department hosts haunted house

Annual event offered up scares and raised money for the food bank

The Castor Volunteer Fire Department hosted its annual haunted house on Oct. 25.

Changing up the venue for 2024, the volunteer firefighters spent nearly a week of evenings decorating the Castor Curling Club for the big event.

According to Fire Chief Patrick Kelly, the new venue allowed the department to set up in new ways never before done while taking advantage of the increased space available to them in the facility.

A post on social media to the fire department's official Facebook page noted that the frights were so bad this year that many children came out crying, though that didn't stop them from turning around and going back in.

Kelly says that in total, around 260 people went through the haunted house, and the department is guessing around 150 people by the time repeats are factored in.

People going through the haunted house had the option of picking their scare level, with one being a mild scare, and three notching it to the maximum level.

Admission into the haunted house was a donation to the Castor Food Bank.
