Car thieves have been active in the county

COLLISION

On Oct. 2 a motorcycle entered the ditch after colliding with a wheel that had detached from a commercial vehicle. The collision occurred approximately 4 km. west of Erskine on Highway 12. The 55-year-old driver from Lousana, Alberta suffered non life threatening injuries and was treated and transported by Stettler EMS. Stettler Fire Department assisted at the scene.

VICTIM SERVICES

Heartland Victim Services Unit was busy this week assisting victim witnesses in Provincial Court. They also traveled to Bashaw to assist that detachment with a notification of next of kin following a family death.

THEFT

On Oct. 1, a stolen BMW automobile was reported burning in a field north of Stettler in the county, near the Summer Village of White Sands. The BMW had been stolen about one month ago in Calgary and was driven into some bush along Range Road 20-0.

Overnight on Oct. 4 in Erskine, several vehicles and an RV were entered by culprits. Various property was stolen including electronic equipment and one vehicle had the ignition smashed in an apparent attempt to steal the vehicle. Vigilant residents on one street scared off the culprits.

Also on Oct. 4, a 2001 Red Dodge extended-cab truck was stolen from the 5900 block of 50A Avenue in Stettler. The truck was displaying Alberta license plate BBC-3140 and had a black box cover.
