The local candidates are as follows:

Jason Hushagen - Alberta Independence Party (AIP)

Nate Horner - United Conservative Party (UCP)

Mark Nikota - Alberta Party (AP)

Rick Strankman - Independent, incumbent

and possibly Holly Heffernan - New Democratic Party (NDP)

Community members can submit their questions for the candidates in advance of the forum via e-mail to spl@prl.ab.ca.

Election Day is Tuesday, April 16, 2019.

Advance poll ares April 9 to 13. Polling locations are to be announced.

The Stettler library first hosted an elections forum in 2008 and has been working with the BOT since 2015.

“We believe the forum provides an opportunity for community members to evaluate the candidates before voting, and see how they answer questions on issues of importance to them,” said Rhonda O’Neill, library manager.

“Voters can learn a lot by watching how candidates handle themselves under pressure.

It’s all about making informed decisions.”

The library plans to live stream the event and may post it online afterwards.
