At its regular meeting Feb. 2, council awarded four public works tenders for $464,872.61 as recommended by John Keith, director of operational services.

The tenders included:

• A new motor grader from Strongco Equipment for $206,333.61, plus the federal goods and services tax, the lowest of two tenders.

• A tandem dump truck from Glover International Trucks of Red Deer for $168,537, plus the federal GST.

• Concrete crushing from Double D Bobcat Service and Contracting Ltd. of Cold Lake for $71,500 plus the GST, the lowest of three bids.

A brand new half-ton truck from Stettler Dodge Ltd. for $18,502, plus the GST, the lowest of three bids.

Both the motor grader and the dump truck will be purchased through funds from the Municipal Sustainability Initiative (MSI) program, with the grader $24,000 under the allotted amount and the dump truck $17,000 over, said Greg Switenky, assistant chief administrative officer.

-Residential lots split

Council approved a staff recommendation to approve a subdivision application requested by Hoopfer Construction Ltd. to create two residential lots at 5001 – 53 Street.

The applicant is proposing to create two separate titles for a duplex currently under construction on 50 Avenue just west of the downtown core.

“There’s nothing new or complicated in this proposal,” said Switenky.

While the applicant is required to meet several conditions, the proposal meets the land-use bylaw, the municipal development plan and subdivision and development regulations.
