Endiang was a busy place on April 23 as garage-sale-goers converged on the hamlet for the big Community Garage Sale at the Endiang Hall as well as four private garage sales in the hamlet. Hope everyone found a new treasure.

It was good to see Ruthie Ratcliffe again on the weekend. She used to operate Ruthie’s Roost café in Endiang. Ruthie was in town for the garage sales and had a garage sale at the café as well caught up on a lot of visiting.

Keep in mind the Mother’s Day Pancake Breakfast on May 8 at the Endiang Community Hall. Treat mom on her special day from 9 to 11 a.m.

Volunteers for the Byemoor Curling Club worked at the Jackpot Casino in Red Deer on the Easter weekend. Thanks to all the volunteers who took a shift.

Sympathy is extended to the family of George Pogmore who passed away on April 14. George (known as Bill) was the only son of George Sr. and Christine Pogmore. He was raised at Byemoor along with his sisters Margaret, Emma, Betty, Anne and Dorothy.

When tragedy struck the family, the young children went to live with other Pogmore family members.

Bill married Winnie Stewart and they farmed south of Botha where they raised three children Stewart, Billie Jean and Gayla. Following Winnie’s passing Bill later married Vi Fletcher.

Our thoughts are with the Pogmore family in their loss.

Condolences are sent to the family of Jim Carothers who passed away on April 19 in Stettler at the age of 92 years.

Jim and his wife Lee lived in the Endiang district for several years where Jim worked many of those years at the Hunt Ranch. Jim and Lee had a large blended family and he will be missed by his children Trixi, Wade, Jamie, Marie, Curtis, Tory and Jimilee and their families, and wife Lee. Jim was a cowboy at heart; he loved to visit and had many great stories to share.

Our thoughts are with all of Jim’s family at this time.

Happy Anniversary wishes are sent to Dale and Carol Nixon who celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on April 21.

Congratulations on your special milestone, Dale and Carol.

On April 21, councillors and administration members of the County of Stettler, County of Paintearth, Starland County and the Special Areas, along with guests from Red Deer County, met in Byemoor for a supper meeting to discuss matters of mutual interest.

The ladies of the Byemoor Hall served a delicious roast beef supper prior to the meeting.

Byemoor is always the chosen location for the joint meeting because of its central location. The meeting was hosted by the County of Paintearth this year.

Wind, wind and more wind seems to be the norm for this spring. Lots of cold windy days and even snow make it hard to believe it’s almost May.

Happy 75th Birthday wishes are sent to Lynda Wilkie marking her special milestone on April 26. Best wishes for many more happy birthdays, Lynda.

“How did the barber win the race? He knew a shortcut.”
