Police are warning Alberta's shopkeepers to be on the lookout for counterfeit bills after several businesses in St. Albert were targetted with fake money.

RCMP said that since Wednesday, Nov. 9, reports of counterfeit $20s and $100s have been reported at multiple businesses.

While there's been no indication of counterfeit money being circulated in Stettler at this time, with the Christmas holiday approaching, business people should keep their guard up.

Shopkeepers should look for the security features on Canadian currency – the holographic stripe, watermark portrait and iridescent maple leaves, to name a few.
