Breakfast meetings for businesses

The Stettler Regional Board of Trade and Community Development has a new program for local business owners and managers.

“Breakfast Before Business” will be an opportunity for business owners and managers to meet and to network with other local businesses in the meeting rooms at the Board of Trade and Tourism and Business office.

The board will also have guest speakers and presenters that will provide information on topics of interest to local businesses.

The board is looking for different ways to get back with the business community.

“Three years ago, we organized noon luncheons at different venues and restaurants in the town. Attendance started fading away eventually and we stopped them,” said Keith Ryder, the executive director.

“However, we feel that now is the time to retry them. We hope to get at least 20 people at the session.”

The first session will take place on Jan. 26 and will focus on fraud issues that could relate to local businesses.

Guest presenters from GKDP Accounting and the Stettler RCMP will talk about some of the latest fraudulent schemes and areas of concerns that local businesses know.

The board hopes to hold these meetings regularly and plans to move to larger facilities if the business community supports the new program.

Businesses are encouraged to contact the board with suggestions or ideas for topics that they would like to see covered at future sessions.

The sessions will be free to business owners and managers. However, preregistration is required as space is limited. To register, please call 403-742-3181 or email info@stettlerboardoftrade.com.
