Big Valley - A community to be thankful for

Big Valley blessed with choirs of ‘snow angels’

This past week our community has received a heap of praise for displaying that most positive of community attributes – generosity.

From day-to-day acts of kindness to banding together in times of crisis to the dedication of our selfless volunteers, Big Valley understands just what the word community means.

Many appreciative village residents took the opportunity to praise our selfless community “snow angels”. When a snowfall hits these volunteers clear snow on sidewalks throughout the village. They bring out their shovels and all kinds of equipment and commit to helping a neighbour or two, sometimes even whole streets, for the entire winter season.

We all thank you for your service.

The Big Valley Landfill sent a thank you to all area residents for doing their best to recycle and respect site rules, helping to make the site better for everyone.

From the families who recently lost almost everything in a fire on the first weekend of February came a heartfelt thank you to all the people of this amazing community who came together and helped in any way they could. Thanks to all the organizations, businesses and individuals who donated clothing, funds, shelter and even food and treats for the dogs. Big Valley is the best and everyone deserves a big hug.

A very special thank you from grateful members of the public goes out to Big Valley’s first responders. Whenever we call, they are there, any hour day or night. We often forget that they are taking time away from their families to help ours.

A call to 911 brings these “angels of mercy” to a scene of adversity in minutes, bringing calm, comfort, aid and emergency medical attention when needed most. Our community knows how great a volunteer group of people we have at our disposal and we all sleep better knowing these angels have our back.

To the many people of this great community who give their time, gifts, skills and resources to make a positive difference in the lives of others, we all thank you. It makes a person proud to be part of this community.
